TRUE COLORS sketch log

Bea my beautiful girl. The moment she snaps and lashes out is a scene I can't wait to build towards in the comic.

So TRUE COLORS started out as a roleplay between me and a friend of mine and some of the cast had different names way back at the beginning. Simon has always been Simon but Bea was Vea and Beck was Bug. Simon just likes making demeaning little nicknames for his favorites. Bea is his babygirl and Beck is his dog.

Beck is so naturally stoic (due to his upbringing he never learned to emote much) that Simon putting him into various situations or outfits doesn't garner much of an outward reaction. He's just going to change later lol

It's so interesting to me to see the subtle ways Bea has changed as I got more and more used to drawing her.

Bea will lounge on the side of the pool but never get in the water. She's very protective of her hair and stylings and fairly self conscious of some aspects of her body but often styles herself and puts up a front to mask it. Not to say she's nervous or anxious often so much as very aware of her image and how she is perceived.

What is the point of being an artist if I can't put my characters into playboy bunny suits (Beck has already taken his off)

So one character note about Beck is he has had bilateral transtibial amputations and wears prosthetics in his day to day. When he's at home he mostly uses his wheelchair.

Collecting references and drawing out Bea's wardrobe has been such a fun part of creating this comic. She has a very specific and cute style

Beck bikini courtesy of Simon. Beck's chosen swim outfit is a massive T-shirt and board shorts.

There he is...the bastard himself.

This is an older RP based doodle that is actually not canon to the comic story now! Featuring an old version of Beck's dad (the similarities with Simon were on purpose but I've since chosen to change his design)

And an oldie! The very first iteration of the character that would go on to become Bea.
I've got a bit more art (namely all the porn haha) but I'm going to collect that in a different post
